I have been a student of Shaolin Do for a little over a year now and a student of Master Duncan's for a little over a month and I highly recommend this school to anyone who is interested in learning the art of Kung Fu. Master Duncan's teaching style is very thorough and comprehensive and he makes sure you truly "understand" the material, specifically WHY you are learning something rather than just HOW to do a form or technique. Classes are usually pretty large (20+) students for the adult class, and there is a large cross-section of ages, ranks, physiques and abilities, so it does not feel like students are competing with or judging each other - each student works as part of the class, but each student works at THEIR pace.
This school also offers classes for children and as an expectant father, I cannot wait to bring my son to share in the great experience Master Duncan offers. The children's classes are entertaining to watch (as an adult) and the kids themselves are extremely motivated and seem to love every minute. The focus and discipline these classes teach the kids will certainly come in handy, plus it's a great place for them to make friends that can last a lifetime.
For those who truly want to learn traditional Kung Fu, enhance their physical abilities, discipline their mind and have fun while doing it, stop by the school, meet the teachers and the students and join us - it truly is a family atmosphere. You will not be disappointed.
Round Rock Fitness Kickboxing is a blast! I started my trial back in September 2016 thinking I will give it a try... I don't know if I can do more than 1 or 2 times a week. I was totally wrong --I am so addicted! I go 3 times a week! The support from the instructors and group is so encouraging. I have made great friends here and never feel self conscious. Everyone does things at their own level. No one is trying to out do you. No one is putting you down for doing knee push ups :). We are attending for a common goal to get fit and have fun. Oh I failed to mention I feel great ! More energy, clothes fit looser, and the best benefit? Your significant other saying WOW. Give it a try you too will become addicted.
Loving the Tai Chi class - never a 'grind' or monotonous class & i always show up with a wonderous bright eyed 'what's next' or 'so what are we gonna do today' kind of feeling.
I have been going to Shaolin Do Kung Fu for about five years now. I participate both in Kung Fu and Tai Chi and have nothing but great things to say about Mstr Duncan and the program. He is one of the best teachers I have come across. He knows how to breakdown the forms so you are able to learn the elements and as you put them together are able to do the form as designed.
I have had the opportunity to observe him with the children's program and highly recommend him to my friends with kids. He thoroughly enjoys teaching and sharing his art. I appreciate the support we have with GrandMaster Sin The and enjoy his visits twice a year to observe our belt tests.
